A Few Notes From Cheryl
Happy
Holidays: Greetings!
It's that time of year again, when the winter holidays are here.
I hope you are doing well and staying healthy during this time of
year. I literally lost my voice (completely!) last week from a
flu bug, so for me it was a reminder to slow down and give my
body the rest it needs. I hope you do the same - take good care
of yourself as we go through this holiday season.
This month's feature
article is on a topic that some of you may be
contemplating, since this is the last month of 2006. Hope you
enjoy it!
New additions to "Resources" page - just for you! Based
on your requests, especially for those of you who have attended our
workshops, we have added several new resources and recommendations for
books and films (there are now 11 books and 3 film
recommendations). If you haven't visited this page on our web
site lately, be sure to check out our new recommendations at http://www.goalsinsight.com/free/index.html
Happy holidays to you and yours,

Cheryl

Feature Article: How Are You Ending This
Year?
The end of 2006 is rapidly approaching, and this is such a wonderful
time of year for reflection! I love reflecting on all of my
learnings from the past year, as well as my successes and "failures",
because there are learnings from every experience. The best part
for me is then taking all of those
wonderful learnings into my planning and intention setting for the
coming year.
I would encourage you to block off
some reflection time on your calendar and make this process a
priority. You'll be surprised at the richness that comes with
allowing yourself the gift of this reflection time.
First, find a quiet place for you to do this exercise. You might
even consider doing this in nature somewhere -- the beach, or
mountains, or somewhere that you feel relaxed and creative. You
will want to have a journal or something with which to take notes as
you go through this process.
WORK:
1. What were
your most successful "wins" this past year in your work?
How
will you celebrate those "wins" (remember, celebrating your successes
is key to generating more successes!)?
2. What were
your biggest learnings and how will you
integrate those learnings into your plans for 2007?
3. What were your biggest "failures" this past
year? Note that we use the term "failure" VERY loosely in
coaching - it's more of a playful word that allows us to celebrate even
when things didn't go the way we wanted them to!
4. What impact did you have on your team this past year? How
did you interact with them, and what impact did that have on your
team's relationship dynamics as well as your team's results?
5. What impact did your team's work have on
your organization in 2006? You may want to include your
team in this discussion, to celebrate all of your team's "wins"!
6. How will
you help your team celebrate your "wins" this past year? Remember
the importance of celebrating your team's successes! This was
discussed in detail in our October e-zine, so if you missed that issue
and/or just want some ideas on how to help your team celebrate, you can
see it here: October
2006: How are you rewarding your team?
PERSONAL:
1. What were
your most successful "wins" this past year in your personal
life? How will you celebrate those "wins" (remember,
celebrating is key to
generating more successes!)?
2. What were your biggest learnings from those "wins" and
how will you integrate those learnings into your plans for 2007?
3. What
were your biggest "failures" this past year in your personal
life (we use that term loosely and in coaching, we celebrate "failures"
too and acknowledge them as learnings)?
4. What were your biggest learnings from those "failures" and
how will
you integrate those learnings into your plans for 2006?
5. What impact did you
have on the people you love this past year?
6. What impact
did you have on the world this past year?
Once you have completed this process of exploring the above questions,
I would encourage you to see what difference this process made for
you. How do you feel now that you've completed 2006 with time for
reflection?
Last, but not least, I invite you to CELEBRATE the
completion of this process and the completion of 2006! Do
something fun for yourself, or
find a way to acknowledge the time and energy you put into a full
completion process for 2006.
Most of all, ENJOY!
Next month, we'll talk about the intentions and goals you want to set
for 2007. If you are ready to move into your planning process
already and want some help to make sure
that your 2007 intentions and goals are truly MEANINGFUL, we've
designed a
great resource that
walks you
through the process, step-by-step, on this topic -- "Powerful Goal
