A Few Notes From Cheryl
This month: Whew,
this has been a busy month! I've met with many of you who are
planning team building seminars for January and February, and am
looking forward to creating successful kick-off events to start 2006
off for your teams. Very exciting!
Now that we're getting further into the month, I'm gearing up for
my annual strategic business planning retreat and some vacation, so I'm
going to take some time off at the end of the month. Susan, as
always, will be available to take care of all of your needs and
requests while I am away. Once I'm back, we'll be announcing all
of our very exciting 2006 programs, so be on the lookout for that
communication in early January.
Happy Holidays! December is full of occasions to
celebrate, wherever you are in the world -- Winter Solstice, Hanukkah,
Christmas, Kwanzaa, Boxing Day and many more. Best wishes to you
and your loved ones for a safe, healthy, happy and meaningful holiday season.
Happy holidays,

Cheryl

Feature Article: Endings and Beginnings
The end of the year is rapidly approaching - it's almost time to close
out 2005 and bring in 2006. I don't know about you, but I
love the last part of December...I love reflecting on all of my
learnings and successes the past year (and, of course, the "failures"
that I can learn from, too!), and then I love taking all of those
wonderful learnings into my planning and intention setting for the
coming year. It's a great time to look at the year from both a
personal and work perspective.
If you haven't done this before, I would encourage you to block off
some reflection time on your calendar and really make this process a
priority. You'll be surprised at the richness that comes with
allowing yourself the gift of this reflection time. If you have
done a similar process in the past, ask yourself what you really want
for this year -- will you use the process that has worked well before,
or try some new ways of reflecting and setting intentions?
First, find a quiet place for you to do this exercise. You might
even consider doing this in nature somewhere -- the beach, or
mountains, or somewhere that you feel relaxed and creative. You
will want to have a journal or something with which to take notes as
you go through this process.
For those of you who have coached with me, you know that we spend time
consciously creating what we want. Now is the
time to look at who
you
have been "showing up" as in the world -- at work and at home -- and
plan for 2006.
Let's take a look at both of these areas of your life using these
questions:
WORK:
1. What were
your most successful "wins" this past year at work? How
will you celebrate those "wins" (remember, celebrating your successes
is key to acknowledging your efforts and to generating more successes!)?
2. What were
your biggest learnings from those "wins" and how will you
integrate those learnings into your plans for 2006?
3. What
were your biggest "failures" this past year at work
(note: we use the
term "failures" loosely, from a fun place, and in coaching, we
celebrate "failures" too and
acknowledge them as learnings!)?
4. What were your biggest learnings from those "failures"
and how will you integrate those learnings into your plans for
2006?
5. How will you be different at work in 2006 -
specifically, what will you do differently and how will you "show up"
differently at work in 2006?
6. What are your work-related specific intentions and goals for
2006?
7. What is the
biggest impact you want to have on the world in 2006 through
your work?
8. What
support do you need to ensure that you achieve those goals and
have the impact you desire?
PERSONAL:
1. What were
your most successful "wins" this past year in your personal
life? How will you celebrate those "wins" (remember,
celebrating your successes is key to acknowledging your efforts and to
generating more successes!)?
2. What were your biggest learnings from those "wins" and
how will you integrate those learnings into your plans for 2006?
3. What
were your biggest "failures" this past year in your personal
life (we use that term loosely and in coaching, we celebrate "failures"
too and acknowledge them as learnings)?
4. What were your biggest learnings from those "failures" and
how will
you integrate those learnings into your plans for 2006?
5. How will you be different in 2006 - specifically,
what will you do differently and how will you "show up" differently in
your personal life in 2006?
6. What are your personal intentions and goals for 2006?
7. What
is the biggest impact you want to have on the world in 2006?
8. What
support do you need to ensure that you achieve those goals and
have the impact you desire?
Once you have completed this process of exploring the above questions,
I would encourage you to see what difference this process made for
you. How do you feel now that you've completed 2005 and are ready
to move into 2006? What did you like about this process?
What did you dislike about this process?
Last, but definitely not least, I invite you to CELEBRATE the
completion of this process! Do something fun for yourself, or
find a way to acknowledge the time and energy you put into ensuring
that you're setting the foundation for a successful 2006.
Most of all, ENJOY!!!
By the way, if you need some help with goal setting to make sure
that your 2006 intentions and goals are truly MEANINGFUL, there is a
great resource that
walks you
through the process, step-by-step, on this topic -- "6 Steps to Setting
& Achieving Your Most Meaningful Goals" CD and workbook program at www.goalsinsight.com/products/index.html
. Living the life you truly desire doesn't have to be hard and
you don't have to struggle - be sure to get the support that you need!
Will you let me know how this "ending and beginning" process went for
you?
