Feature Article: How Can Gratitude Change
Your Life?
This has been a very popular coaching topic with my clients lately, so
I thought you might benefit from this discussion as well. When
things are going well in life and work, it can be so easy to take
things for granted. When things are not going well and we run
into roadblocks and barriers, we sometimes feel as if nothing is going
right and that nothing may ever go right for us again!
What difference would it make in either of those scenarios if you
expressed gratitude and appreciation for all of the wonderful people
and things that you DO have in your life?
Questions for you to consider:
- How often do you take a moment to express your
gratitude?
- What difference would it make in your work if
you expressed gratitude for what you HAVE accomplished rather
than what you have not accomplished?
- How can gratitude change YOUR life?
My challenge to you: Express gratitude for someone or something
at least 5 times each day! And, notice what difference this makes
on your life.
To ensure your success, enlist the help of someone to help support you
and hold you accountable to this challenge. Ask a friend,
"gratitude
buddy", colleague or coach today!
Additional gratitude
resources:
1. Gratitude Journal -- I have found that using a gratitude
journal each day has had a tremendous impact on my life because it
helps me focus on what I DO have in my life, rather than what might be
missing. This is a great one: Simple Abundance Journal of
Gratitude by Sarah Ban Breathnach. It's about $11 and I
highly recommend it!
2. Light a Candle web site -- I recently learned about this site
and found it to be a wonderful resource. It is so powerful to
take a quiet moment and light a candle expressing your gratitude and
the candle stays lit for 48 hours. When I last visited the site,
there were 1,074 candles lit by people from 31 countries. Light a
candle for yourself and/or a loved one at: http://www.gratefulness.org/candles/enter.cfm
